Come and celebrate International Dance Day at Z-arts!
Join us for a day of dance & creativity to celebrate International Dance Day with resident, associate, and new artists at Z-arts!
It will be a fun-packed day with dance classes, performances, and creative classes celebrating all forms of dance and expression. We will have five different activities for you to try throughout the afternoon.
With live dance performances, drop-in dance classes, and creative arts/crafts sessions – there really is something for everybody!
Join us to celebrate international dance day and get your body moving, soul grooving, heart pumping and mind funking!
There will be 5 separate workshops at the event, each of which you can find below as well as rough running times for the sessions. You will be rotating through the activities, so don’t worry, you will get a chance to try them all!
The times of the sessions are below:
1st session: 10:15 – 10:45
2nd session: 11:00 – 11:30
3rd session: 11:45 – 12:15
4th session: 12:30 – 1:00
5th session: 1:15 – 1:45
Physical theatre
Come and join Tabitha for a fun physical theatre workshop. We will be looking at animals and how they move. We will also use comedy to make some funny characters of our own!
Art
Come along, get creative and make your very own masks in our ‘Dancing Masks from around the World’ visual arts workshop with Janine.
Take inspiration from the decadence of the Mascaraed Ball, be dazzled by the bright colours of Rios Carnival, and let the Dancing masks of Japan enchant you in this fun and informal arts and crafts session.
Music
Music is a combination of rhythm, melody, and harmony. Rhythm is what gets us tapping our feet and dancing. Join Richard for a special International Dance Day workshop for all ages exploring different rhythms from across the globe. He’ll get you stomping, jumping, and clapping as well as teach you how to create your very own rhythms.
South Asian Dance
Anu Madhu Nambiar is an accomplished dancer with over 25 years’ experience in Indian classical forms (Bharatnatyam, mohiniyattam and kuchupuddi) and others including folk, Bollywood, Contemporary and belly dancing. Anu has been conducting classical , bollywood dance and fitness class workshops throughout UK in Bolton, Preston, Whalley,Blackburn and Manchester. Come join her to learn classical Indian dances and Bhavaragam.
Voguing
Come and join Stuart and learn how to vogue! Part workshop, part catwalk/show/ball: bring your glitz and you’re your glamour and celebrate all that is awesome about you!
So come and perform on our catwalk, get your dancing shoes on and even try lip-syncing.
Pose, dress up and show up for the event of the year here! Learn the moves but most importantly showcase your best self. Because let’s face it no one is as good at being you as you are!
There will also be a dance performance in the theatre at the end of the last workshop at 2pm.
