This workshop will be led by experienced production and sampling musicians, Contours & Poppy Roberts, along with UK-leading Senegalese Master Drummer, Karim Mbaye, in conjunction with Ableton.
Open to participants aged 16 years and above, this workshop will explore the variety of rhythms incorporated within Senegalese music, in a practical group-based approach. There will be the opportunity to record during this workshop, offering the chance to curate unique sample packs of functional material that can be used for future creative purposes.
Participants will be given advice and encouragement on how to incorporate African influences and instruments within their compositions by the workshop co-ordinators.
In addition, there will be an opportunity to submit music to MIMF for creative feedback via a featured artist following the event.
Applications for this workshop will be done through our online form which can be found here.
Please email applications to info@mi-mf.com. The deadline for applications is Wednesday 17 July and successful applicants will be informed by Friday 19 July.
