Part of Hulme Is Where The Art Is 2024
SoundHoppers is a deep-listening and sound exploration workshop for children aged 5-11 and their parents/guardians/carers.
SoundHoppers will be part of Hulme is Where the Art Is on 22 June 2024. Discover new ways of making experimental sound through an exciting workshop of sonic games and deep-listening!
The sessions encourage attentive deep listening through a series of gamified listening exercises that explore various aspects of sound – whether that’s proximity (i.e. how far or close a sound is) or timbre (i.e. the tonality and type of sound), or volume (i.e. how loud or quiet a sound is).
Children are given access to specially constructed soundboxes, transducers and other sound-generating devices to explore how sound travels through various materials and objects.
Delivered by Modus Arts.
Modus Arts draw on interdisciplinary and collaborative approaches to developing public-facing sound-based artworks and events. In 2023 we became a National Portfolio Organisation with Arts Council England.
This workshop will take place inside Z-arts, whilst the rest of the Hulme Is Where The Art Is event will be happening in Hulme Park (weather permitting!) Please head to main reception to be directed to the space.
