Araam-sayeshgaah is one of the best and most successful plays written by Bahman Forsi. A mysterious and metaphorical story set in a mental institute. In this play the doctor, the matron, the patient’s wife and others are all trying to cure Mr Khosro Shariyari’s mental health condition. But this is only one side of the story. The various characters of the play each have a mental health condition which need to be remedied.

It is not only Khosro who is desperately searching for the solution to his problems. Everyone else is also in search of the lost keys which will unlock the problems of their lives.

Dialogues of the characters somehow are inter-linked which at times resemble monologues.

Bahman Forsi illustrates his ideology within social narratives which moves the story forward. The content of the play is a reflection of social and cultural happenings of its time. Forsi’s writing is free, special, attractive and his amazing portrayal of the characters culminates in an attractive and charming theatre play.

Araam-sayeshgaah was staged for one month in 1973 in Sangalak theatre, Tehran, Iran. It was directed by Bahman Forsi and played by Ali Nasirian, Khosro Shakinaee, Mahin Shahabi, Mohammad Motee, Mahboobeh Bayat, Azar Fakhr and others.

نمایشنامه آرامسایشگاه در دو پرده از بهترین و موفق‌ترین نمایشنامه‌های بهمن فرسی است که داستانی استعاره‌ای و رازآلود در فضای یک آسایشگاه روانی دارد.

در این نمایشنامه دکتر، سرپرستار، همسر بیمار و دیگران در تلاش برای درمان و معالجه‌ی خسرو، مردی با بیماری روانی، هستند. اما این تنها ظاهر قضیه است و شخصیت‌‌های داستان، هر کدام به نوعی مشکلی روانی دارند که نیاز به معالجه دارد. تنها خسرو نیست که سرگشته و پریشان به دنبال حل مشکلش است، بلکه همه به دنبال کلید گمشده‌ی زندگیشان هستند. دکتر ریشه‌ی همه‌ی مشکلات را در دروغ می‌بیند که کلید حل آن راستی است.

دیالوگ‌های نمایشنامه آرامسایشگاه، به شکلی روان و به هم پیوسته است که گاهی شبیه به مونولوگ هم هستند. فرسی ایدئولوژی خود را در قالب گفتگمان‌های اجتماعی بیان کرده که با سرعت داستان را پیش می‌برد. مضمون نمایشنامه، هم اجتماعی و هم فرهنگی است و بازتابی از دوره‌ی اجتماعی زمانه‌ی خود را در بطن داستان دارد. قلم فرسی بی‌تکلف، خاص و جذاب است و شناخت درست وی از شخصیت‌های نمایشنامه‌ و روند روایت قصه باعث خلق نمایشنامه‌ی بی‌بدیل و دلپذیر آرامسایشگاه شده است.

نمایشنامه آرامسایشگاه در سال 1356 با کارگردانی بهمن فرسی و با بازیگران مطرح و شناخته‌ شده‌‌‌ی عرصه‌ی هنر مانند على‌نصیریان، خسرو شکیبایى، مهین شهابى، محمد مطیع، محبوبه بیات، آذر فخر و … در ایران درسالن تئاتر سنگلج به مدت یک ماه به روى صحنه رفت.
